PC® BBQTown #PCBBQTOWN - Community - Mississauga

Community - Mississauga

Thank you

for participating in the

PC® BBQTown Event!

Our non-profit organization has been hosting a community BBQ event for the last 10 years. On average, we have an attendance of approximately 2500 members of the community, boarding-Dixie Road, Bloor Street, Burnhapthorpe Road and up to Eastgate Road, Dundas Street and Mill Road, all within the Mississauga East region; as well as local business vendors and other non-profit agencies setting up their booths to offer other community services. This year, we will be hosting the event on June 16th, but with a very tight budget. Unfortunately, times are tough for everyone, and although our community partners have been very helpful in the past, this year we are finding it hard to get support from our usual supporters, and we are trying to do all that we can do to make the festival as much fun as it has always been. The Summerfest that we host is for all ages. We have games, face painting and bouncy castles for children from 2 and up, a basketball game for youth, local talent doing the entertainment, staff doing a cultural fashion show, and much more.... We have no budget for this event this year; therefore, it is up to the staff to find donations, which, as I mentioned, is becoming more and more challenging. One of the major areas we are lacking in is the food area. We have no donations for this, and we are struggling to find a way to pay for the food to bbq we usually offer for FREE. This is important to have at such a large event, so I feel that our community would benefit from this contest. We offer free settlement, employment, language instruction, children's, youth and seniors programs and services to newcomers, and last year we opened our employment services to ALL, as in Canadian citizens as well. We strive to have it all to offer our wonderful community, as our volunteers come from the programs we offer-as their way to give back. That in itself speaks wonders. Thank you,
